This light tan two-piece suit by John Tudor was custom designed for actor Matt Damon in his portrayal of the character Tom Ripley in the 1999 motion picture The Talented Mr. Ripley starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law. Mr. Damon wore the outfit in a sequence near the middle of the film when Ripley enters an upscale hotel somewhere in Italy and first establishes himself as “Dickie Greenleaf” (Law’s character), whose identity Ripley has decided to assume after killing the wealthy heir with an oar in a fit of passion earlier in the film. The suit is complete with the custom tailor label listing the name MATT DAMON and the production date 98’ and an additional costumer’s label with the character name RIPLEY handwritten in black ink. Both garments are in excellent screen worn condition and are accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the costume house.
