This skirt was worn by the character "Rose Slater," portrayed by actress Jan Sterling, in the 1953 motion picture, "The Vanquished." The blue/red/white striped taffeta skirt has the original Paramount tag sewn inside with the name "Jan Sterling" handwritten in black ink.

Ms. Sterling wore this skirt at the beginning of the film when Rose (Sterling) and Roger Hale (Lyle Bettger) are watching a hanging in the town square from Hale's carriage. "The Vanquished," featuring John Payne, Jan Sterling, Coleen Gray, and Lyle Bettger, follows the story of Rock Grayson (Payne), a civil war veteran, who returns home to find his town in the control of a corrupt politician.

The garment is in very good vintage condition and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the costume house. Presented by The Golden Closet, your premier source for iconic screen used wardrobe, props, and music entertainment memorabilia.
