This gown was worn by Katy Perry, in the video for the hit single, “Wide Awake.” The vintage 1940’s shear silk gown is adorned with silk flowers and lily appliqués. The song is the second single from the re-release of her second studio album, “Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection,” and the eighth and final single of the ‘Teenage Dream’ era.
Ms. Perry can be seen wearing the gown when her character meets prince charming in the garden just outside the labyrinth. "Wide Awake," was written as part of promotion for her 2012 3D documentary-concert film, “Katy Perry: Part of Me,” and plays during the end credits. Perry has stated in interviews that the music video is symbolic of her life, where various scenes in the video are redolent of her rise to stardom, personal struggles, love and marriage. The music video was met with acclaim from most critics, with a number of them deeming it the best video to date from Perry.
The gown is in vintage condition with a few silk flowers shattering and some separation at the seems due to age. Her dress is modified in the video with additional floral items that were later removed from the dress upon return. The costume comes accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from the costume house.
