This leather jacket was worn by the character "Roy Hobbs," portrayed by actor Robert Redford, in the 1984 motion picture, "The Natural." The jacket is constructed of navy blue wool, leather sleeves, custom embroidered Knights patch on the front left breast and stitched embroidery on the back. This leather jacket was custom made specifically for Mr. Redford. There were only three made for the film and were worn only by Mr. Redford and his stand-in. Twelve others were made for the rest of the team and due to budget constraints, the actors all shared the jackets.
Mr. Redford can be seen wearing this jacket throughout various moments in the film when Roy is playing for the New York Knights. "The Natural," starring Robert Redford, Robert Duvall, Glenn Close, Kim Basinger, Wilford Brimley, and Robert Prosky, was nominated for four Academy Awards. It stands as one of the most beloved sports movies of all time and arguably the best baseball movie ever made.
