plaid jacket
Item # C0423
SOLD
This jacket was worn by the character “Tom Bradley,” portrayed by legendary actor Gary Cooper, in the 1936 motion picture, “Desire.” The two-button jacket with patch pockets is constructed of tan woven wool with multicolored plaid pattern. The garment was custom made for Mr. Cooper’s use in the film by Macintosh, and has the original tailoring label sewn inside with the name “Gary Cooper” and production date “Aug. 35” handwritten in slightly faded black ink.
The jacket is clearly seen worn by Mr. Cooper in various scenes throughout the film. Most notable appearances are: as Spanish customs officials search through his suitcase, hitchhiking after Madeleine (Marlene Dietrich) drives off with his car, and as he dresses for dinner at the San Sebastian estate.
“Desire" follows the adventures of Tom Bradley (Cooper), an American auto engineer, who falls for the devious jewel theif, Madeleine de Beaupre (Dietrich).
The jacket is in excellent vintage condition and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity. Presented by The Golden Closet, your premier source for iconic screen used wardrobe, props, and music entertainment memorabilia.
