This pair of high heels were worn onscreen by the character “Amelia Warren” portrayed by actress Catherine Zeta-Jones in the 2004 motion picture “The Terminal” starring Tom Hanks. The designer heels by Manolo Blahnik are constructed of black leather with tan/cream leather interiors and have had both heels broken off for their use in a specific scene of the film.

The actress appeared wearing these shoes in the notable scene where Amelia first encounters “Viktor Navorski” (played by Hanks) at the airport terminal in New York where the majority of the film takes place. Amelia, a stewardess, rushes through the terminal when she suddenly slips and breaks both heels off of her expensive designer shoes. One of the heels skitters across the floor and comes to rest near the spot where Navorski sits, and the two meet when he brings the heel back to her. Amelia encounters Navorski several more times in different scenes when coming through the airport for her job and the two develop an unusual friendship.

“The Terminal” was loosely based on the true story of Merhan Nasseri, an Iranian refugee who landed at Charles de Gaulle airport in 1988 after being denied entry into England and later France because his passport and United Nations refugee certificate had been stolen. Although French authorities eventually allowed him permission to enter the country or return to his native land, the eccentric Nasseri instead opted to continue living in the terminal as a “man without a country” for many years afterwards, telling his story to any travelers willing to listen. The film won an Art Directors Guild Award for Excellence in Production Design in 2005 and composer John Williams received a BMI Film and TV Award for his musical contribution to the movie.

The shoes are in good screen used condition with the broken heels as appeared in the film and come with the original costumer’s production tag reading “Amelia, Ch. 1, Sc. 49, Broken Heel MB’s”. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity.
