This custom made black tuxedo jacket was worn by one of the band member characters in the 1991 motion picture comedy “The Addams Family” starring Christina Ricci, Anjelica Huston, and Raul Julia. The unusual jacket with no sleeves was custom made for Mr. Jackson’s character, a member of the bizarre Addams Family Band who only had one arm protruding out of his chest, which he used to play on the neck of his stand up bass (string plucking being provided by the Addams Family pet “Hand” of course). Mr. Jackson started in film when he was cast by the legendary Hal Roach as “Pineapple” in the “Our Gang” serials in 1923. Also a vaudeville performer, he was billed as “Hollywood’s most famous colored kid star”. The garment is in excellent screen worn condition and is complete with the original Center Theatre Group label sewn inside with “Adams Family” (sic) and actor name “Eugine Jacksone” (sic) handwritten in black ink. Ms. Ruth Myers was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Costume Design for her work on the film. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity.
