This custom made khaki US Army uniform shirt was worn by the character Private Harry Frigg portrayed by legendary actor Paul Newman in the Edith Head designed 1968 WWII era motion picture comedy “The Secret War of Harry Frigg”. Mr. Newman wears the shirt throughout the film in his role as jail escape expert Harry Frigg, who is promoted from Private to Major-General in order to pull rank on Brigadier Generals captured in Italy who are unable to escape their cushy palace prison due to their inability to cede authority to one another. The shirt is in good screen worn condition with some evidence of age, and comes with the original Machin Shirtmakers tag with “Paul Newman” printed in blue ink.
