This non-firing prop HK SP 89 machine gun was used by the character “Ted Winter” portrayed by actor Liev Schreiber in the 2010 motion picture “Salt” starring Angelina Jolie. This prop weapon is constructed of black resin and metal and was meant to simulate the live firing HK MP5 machine gun used by the actor in a pivotal sequence near the end of the film that takes place underneath the White House inside the “President’s Emergency Operations Center” (PEOC).
In the sequence, Winter accompanies The President of the United States and his security detail down into the PEOC with agent “Evelyn Salt” (Angelina Jolie) in hot pursuit. Once inside the sealed inner chamber, Winter kills almost everyone in the room using the machine gun he commandeers from the PEOC armory case. Mr. Schreiber used this prop weapon in the non-firing scene where Winter throws the weapon across the room before he confronts the President. The actor accidentally cracked the barrel of the weapon during the throw but the barrel tip is still connected to the metallic rod inside and is in otherwise good screen used condition as seen in the film.
