Spring is in the air at last, and we’re proud to announce more new acquisitions to our collection of screen used motion picture, television, and music entertainment memorabilia.

Fans of the late Paul Newman now have the opportunity to purchase exceptional wardrobe items that the actor wore onscreen in two of the finest films of his career. The first item is a two-piece period style pinstriped suit that the actor wore in the motion picture classic “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” starring Robert Redford and Katherine Ross. This wardrobe change was custom made for Mr. Newman’s use in the production and is complete with the original Western Costume Company costumer’s tag inside listing the actor’s name and garment sizes. Images and detailed information about the suit can be found on our website at this link:

We are also proud to present Mr. Newman’s screen worn long sleeve dress shirt that the actor wore in “The Sting” starring Robert Redford. The garment was custom tailored for Mr. Newman and has the original tailor’s label sewn inside with the actor’s initials and production date. We also recently added numerous new Science Fiction/Horror items to the site, including original production test photos from the original 1977 “Star Wars”, a screen worn futuristic human soldier uniform worn in “Terminator 2 : Judgement Day, a cast and crewmember custom wrist watch from “Back to the Future”, Body Armor from the cult television series “Space Above and Beyond”, background costumes from “The Planet of the Apes” franchise, Charlton Heston’s three piece suit worn in John Carpenter’s “In The Mouth Of Madness”, a complete wardrobe change worn by the principle vampire character Jan Valek in John Carpenter’s “Vampires” and many more. Also coming soon is a costume change worn by Deborah Harry (from the band Blondie), which the actress wore in John Carpenter’s “Body Bags”.

We have also acquired an extensive amount of screen used wardrobe from The Golden Age of Hollywood, including entertainment memorabilia items worn by such legendary actors/actresses like Lou Costello, Veronica Lake, Carole Lombard, Olivia DeHavilland, and a slip worn by Marilyn Monroe in the film classic “Niagara”. Another rare find that will be appearing soon is a signature jacket worn by the character Sgt. Joe Friday portrayed by actor and series creator Jack Webb in “Dragnet 1967”.

One of our Britney Spears wardrobe changes will also be featured in an upcoming Profiles in History auction. This “Ringmaster” costume was seen extensively throughout the video for the title track of Ms. Spears hit comeback album “Circus”, which the artist is currently touring throughout the U.S. to sold out arenas. Other Britney Spears screen used memorabilia is also still currently for sale on our website.

More new items are currently being added to our collection as we speak. The Golden Closet Newsletter Blog Mar. 2009

Another month is upon us here at The Golden Closet and we continue to offer collectors only the finest in screen used wardrobe and props. Last month we held numerous Ebay auctions featuring items from a wide assortment of films and television series and participated in a live High Noon auction that featured some of our best Western themed wardrobe used in Hollywood productions.

We recently acquired some key pieces of music memorabilia to offer to collectors, including some exciting pieces of James Brown memorabilia ranging from stage worn garments to awards and plaques awarded to the legendary Godfather of Soul over the course of his impressive career. His green “S.E.X.” jumpsuit is an amazing signature costume worn on stage during live performances, and the rhinestone embellished “Taurus” custom made two-piece suit owned by Mr. Brown represents all the flash and style which came to characterize his incredible personality.

In addition, we are pleased to offer an unparalleled collection of garments worn by Britney Spears in the video for the title track of her hit comeback album “Circus”. The most impressive piece in our collection is the vintage gold showgirl body suit, which Ms. Spears wore not only in the video, but also in a Rolling Stone Magazine shoot, as well as on the cover of the single’s U.S. release. Britney’s “Ringmaster” costume comprised of a Vivienne Westwood corset, vintage jacket with tails, sequined hot pants, and vintage top hat will also be featured in the upcoming Profiles In History auction to be held on May 1st. Details on the auction can be found on their website www.profilesinhistory.com.

We also have other new items in our inventory, including screen used wardrobe from the series Deadwood, Sharon Stone wardrobe worn in Casino, an original production script from Scarface starring Al Pacino, a Paul Newman shirt worn in The Sting, Michael J. Fox’s Marty McFly cowboy hat from Back To The Future 3, several new items worn by Madonna in Evita, and continue to offer one of the most extensive collections of Sopranos memorabilia featuring select items from the personal collection of Mr. James Gandolfini, who played Tony Soprano on the show.

The Motion Picture Prop Company has featured an article on our company on their online magazine site. For those unfamiliar with the M.P.P.C., their company provides forums where entertainment memorabilia dealers and collectors can exchange information and converse on forums in order to benefit the entire collecting community. The Golden Closet would like to thank Mr. Lee Malone for running a feature on our company and helping us get the word out to collectors that might wish to know more about us and our business practices.
